Frequently asked questions
Is Vireo the same app as InvurseChat?
Yes. InvurseChat is now called Vireo. It's the same app from Invurse Studio with a new name.
Which Macs does Vireo work on?
Any Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) running macOS 14 or later. 16 GB of memory is recommended; more memory lets you run larger, more capable models.
Is there a Windows version?
A native Windows app is in development and coming soon. Get in touch if you'd like to hear when it's ready.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once your model is downloaded, chat and file features work without an internet connection. Only web research needs to be online.
Where is my data stored?
On your Mac. Your chats are saved as files there, and you can delete any conversation at any time.
Which models can I use?
Google's open Gemma 4 models and Qwen models, run with Apple's MLX framework or llama.cpp. You can also search Hugging Face for any MLX or GGUF model, or add models you already have.
Can the AI change my files or calendar without asking?
No. Deleting, renaming or exporting files, running commands, changing events and sending messages all wait for your approval. You can choose "Don't ask again" for some kinds of action, but running commands and deleting always ask.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Vireo is free to download and use.
